Review on πŸ’ͺ Powerful 2021 Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Laptop with Intel Core i7-1185G7, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, and Active Stylus - Mica by Andrew Schobinger

The glass touchpad on the upper system renders the computer unusable.

I bought a top i7 processor, touch, UHD, digitizer stylus, glass palm rest, ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, touchpad with haptic feedback, leather LCD on the back. Offense due to injuries, extended support and occasional reporting (travelling a lot even during a pandemic). The experience was EXTREMELY disappointing. The touchpad is a nightmare. Since it doesn't have a mechanical switch/hub (the palm rest is just a long, solid piece of glass), it uses a touchscreen-like sensor and haptic feedback to let you know you've pressed it. Lenovo hasn't built in a way to change the sensitivity of this feature, and ghost clicks (i.e. when the touchpad "thinks" you're clicking instead of just moving the mouse) make the system almost impossible to use without an external mouse . This is made worse by the BT mouse lag issue. There was a BT mouse lag issue that needed to be fixed with a registry hack. In a premium system this is unacceptable. The ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is very difficult to find (there are no dents, so I had to put a sticker showing its location). Since you never know if you've placed your finger in the right spot, performance is dismal. It might as well not have a fingerprint scanner. The battery life is disappointing. The system is very heavy. And the frosted glass palm rest has very sharp edges, which makes prolonged use very uncomfortable. ) sucks at all with gen 8 (which is 11). Systems are always overloaded with Windows background processes. Overly aggressive power saving protocols implemented in drivers to extend battery life to the point of reducing device usability (e.g. BT mouse latency issue). I was able to test full powered laptop processors (ending in HQ or H) and the performance was much better. Never again with those crappy low-power processors. I bought a Dell up until about 7 years ago when Lenovo's offerings were better and the quality and service was up to par. I've bought about 3 Lenovo laptops for myself (usually top-end), somewhere between 10-20 Lenovo laptops for my employer, half a dozen Lenovo desktops, and countless recommendations from friends to buy a Lenovo. Now I'm going back to Dell after that experience. I will probably sell this system on ebay to make up some of my losses and get a Dell Latitude or similar with an H.
