Review on Tokina FiRIN 20Mm Auto Focus by John Collins

Revainrating 4 out of 5

As far as possible for a fast 20mm prime lens

I was puzzled by the lack of a review of this Tokina lens made for the Sony Alpha series. In any case, let me tell you that this lens is one of the sharpest wide-angle lenses I've ever owned. Its build quality is excellent. The only drawback is the lack of weather protection. Otherwise, this lens is almost perfect for its compact size. I'm glad I didn't spend more money on the Zeiss Batis 18mm F2.8 which is a notch slower. I'm deducting a star because, like other Tokina lenses, this is prone to ghosting or flare when shooting against the sun (my gold reference is the Canon EF 24mm F1.4L II). A flat lens hood doesn't help much. Otherwise, this Tokina has an excellent look.

Pros
  • A handy thing
Cons
  • So far so good
