Review on Sony FE 55mm F1.8 Sonnar T ZA Full Frame Prime Lens (Fixed) by Candra ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect purchase for me, exactly what I was looking for!

I bought it as the first native glass on the Sony a7rII. Everything they say about his phenomenal sharpness is true. The lens is super-sharp, I've been shooting with it for a year now - the sharpness is simply amazing, especially in conjunction with the a7rII. Sharp since open. There is such an impression that there are no aberrations at all: on the open one, sometimes it is barely on the verge of visibility. The control is holding up well. On the open, the vignetting is quite strong, if it is important to someone (not to me). Fast AF, it feels a little slower than my favorite Canon 5dm3 + Canon 24-70L f / 2.8II reportage bundle. The glass pattern is even and predictable. The predictability of the result is very good for reportage shooting. It is universal. For those who love 50mm focal length - a must have. Such a reference autofocus fifty dollars for the Sony FE system. For those who have bought a Sony UPC and are thinking about which glass to buy as their first autofocus lens, the Sony Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 ZA is the best choice. Some of my pictures from it here: https://www. Flickr. Com/photos/ilya_art/albums/72157663133386625

Pros
  • All impressions are based on using this lens for a year on a Sony a7rII camera. - sharp, very sharp, razor - fast AF - predictable - few aberrations - good color - compact - light! You can wear with Sonya around your neck on a thin strap all day. - good mechanics (for manual focus) - reasonable price tag
Cons
  • - strong vignetting at f/1.8
