Review on πŸ”Œ SINLOON PCI-E to USB 3.0 4 Port Expansion Card - Self-Powered, 5Gbps Super Speed, Green by Ricky Bedell

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works very well, decent transfer speed, no driver installation required

This is a pretty cool card if you're upgrading an old PC with USB 3.0 or just want more USB 3.0 slots. The first thing to note is that you need extra power to run it. You need to make sure you have a SATA power connector on your power supply that is free to use this. Unfortunately, if you try to use it without it, it won't work. You also need to make sure your power supply has a PCI-E slot. This also works with the graphics card slot if you have the slot open. You just plug it in and it should work automatically on your PC. I have windows 10 and it started working at boot. I'm not sure how this will work for Windows 7 or 8, but you have a driver disk if you need to install a driver. This works very well. I can connect four portable hard drives at the same time, and all of them could be powered without any problems. The transfer speed via this card is incredibly fast, but please note that this also depends on the connected device. They're arranged vertically, which can be a bit tricky if you happen to connect a device with a large USB port. For example, when you try to connect a wireless USB adapter. Some of them may be too big and take up more space, so be careful. There are no problems with connection and heating. It's actually right under my GPU, but still works great due to the extra heat. There is no screw provided to screw this card to the case so you may need to find one. It also has a low-profile mount if you intend to use it on a low-profile desktop. All in all, this is a pretty good card. It is very easy to install and works automatically with Windows 10. It has pretty good transfer speeds even when using all four ports. There are no bottlenecks or connection problems. The only downside is that there is no screw to fix the card and extra power is needed.

Pros
  • Nice build
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish
