An excellent value is to change the sensor bore.

Pleasant combination of functions - night light, emergency light or flashlight. Loads fast. See the top review for a few modifications. Mine stayed on in low average ambient light. Open the device by removing the 4 screws, being careful not to lose the switch or the transparent oval cover over the LED flashlight. Carefully separate the 2 halves. Attaching the front of the device from the outside up, carefully use a 1/4" drill bit to open a small hole over the sensor in the front, centered on the existing small hole. Sensor so that the night light does not turn on during the day. Collect and examine. Otherwise, you may need to *carefully* countersink or file the outside of the hole to create a tapered area that lets in more ambient light. Sensor. A Dremel tool can give you better control over this. The photo shows how my change in the sensor hole turned out. A bit bumpy but the night light now goes off when I turn on the light in the room. You don't need to remove too much material when creating a tapered hole. If the night light is too bright, stick a piece of aluminum foil on part of the light, being careful not to cover the sensor. Make these changes at your own risk.
