I bought this to cover my oak dining table and to protect the surface from scratches and splatters when doing crafts. For this purpose it works great. In my opinion this is not something you would leave on the table or serve. It's basically thick plastic, like a giant shower cap, that sits on the table with an elastic band all the way around. It served my purpose well but would not be used for anything other than craft projects. A bit pricey at $25 for what you get.
