There were two detanglers in the pack. I hooked one to each end of the twisted-pair handset cord. I called my doctor's office and heard a crackling noise on the line and then my doctor's side hung up. When I called back (we were both a bit annoyed) everything was clarified after a few arguments! Later, when I was on the phone with my sister, I heard the crackling again. My sister heard it too, so I wiggled/twisted the disentangler closest to the tube and found the problem there. I replaced it with the one closest to the phone base and it works great now. Glad I bought two packs!
