Review on 🌱 Food Scrap Bags by BioBag by Karen Montanez

Finally a great compost bag for the kitchen!

Finally! This is the only manufacturer I know of that makes large kitchen size (13 gallon) bin liners. Everyone else seems to think 3 gallons is enough. Well, if you have a family or use a lot of fresh groceries or juices at home, 3 gallons just won't do. We have a compost-only kitchen bucket and use it as a liner. Actually we use two because they are too thin. And that's why I gave it one star - in terms of usability, two is a bummer. But whatever it is. BENEFITS: Because it's certified compostable, it can be used to collect kitchen waste and thrown straight into garden waste. YAY! - Suitable for normal kitchen trash cans. There's no longer a small 3-gallon bucket on the counter that doesn't contain greens from a bunch of beets. YAY.- reduces the use of plastic garbage bags. I don't use them for garbage. (They are very fragile and I think if I threw away something hard it would just puncture it.) But I have a lot less litter (1/2 to 2/3) since I collect kitchen scraps in the bio bag, so purely reduced that much it absolutely the footprint of my plastic bag. Reducing our trash has allowed us to reduce the size of our trash can and lower our monthly city bill. Again YAY.CONS: - Need to double that. We only take our compost to the yard bin twice a week and we have to put it in two bags because one bag will leak. On the other hand, this means that it works as intended: i.e. it decomposes. So I can't blame it too much. - Doesn't last more than a few days when loaded with food waste. As in the point above, this is because it works as advertised. Overall we rely on them to pack our kitchen waste and have been very satisfied overall. I'd like a stronger, less leaking version, but until then I'll go with a double bag. Four solid stars.
