It's high enough to keep water and snow out, but low enough to allow for easy walking. The bottom of the boot has good grip. They also keep your feet warm and dry. These boots can be the perfect boots for kids, albeit expensive. Go with them if you don't mind paying a premium. Otherwise, the Western Chief Boots are comparable children's boots at a lower price.
