Review on πŸ’» Duex Portable Monitor: Upgraded Laptop Companion with 12.5" Display, 1080P Resolution and Lightweight Design in White by Kyle Dill

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not everything about this dual-screen solution is perfect, but nothing else.

This is a pretty cool product that I liked in many ways, although there are some downsides. The easiest way to approach this is with a list of pros and cons. What I liked: β€’ The quality of the monitor is very good. It's bright and quite dynamic. You can tweak the colors and other settings a bit. For everyday use, it's good for almost everything you need from productivity/work tasks to watching videos; I've used it for both. Sometimes I need a second screen for work, and sometimes I work on one screen and watch something on the second. The overall picture looks good. β€’ A 60Hz refresh rate isn't revolutionary these days, but I'm glad it's no less. I can use this for gaming on the go (with limitations, see below) and limiting games to 60fps 1080p Vsync can provide more graphical fidelity on demanding games. β€’ The way it connects to a laptop is frankly quite innovative and makes for a great dual monitor setup (a few caveats again). β€’ Build quality is generally good. What I didn't like: β€’ A slot for a plugin, so it won't work for something that requires a separate power supply, such as a laptop. B. a Nintendo Switch (or in the future a Steam Deck). β€’ While the way it connects to your laptop is functional, having four magnets on the back of the laptop screen is also annoying. It's fully functional for that purpose, but it's clumsy when the thing isn't plugged in. β€’ There is no stand included and it doesn't work well with the stand this company sells as the screen is off center when pivoted outwards β€’ Expensive. It's not too much, but it's definitely not an impressive value compared to similar products. Overall it's really good and I'm glad I have it, but there are some issues to be aware of. The more expensive (but not by much) Pro version fixes some of the issues I had with it, so it might be worth considering, but it also has some unique issues.
