Review on Seagate BarraCuda 1TB Internal Hard Drive HDD – 2.5 Inch SATA 6 Gb/s 5400 RPM 128MB Cache for PC Laptop – Easy Packaging (ST1000LM048) by Stanislaw Bieroza ᠌

I purchased its competitor "Western Digital WD Blue 1 TB WD10SPZX" about which I also wrote a review with its shortcomings. But this Seagate is inferior to WD, which indicated above. The only disadvantage of WD is the head parking after 8 seconds of inactivity (if it is not a system disk) and it takes ~ 1.5 seconds to spin up. Seagate does not park after such a short period, it seems that it does not park at all (I just did not follow this parameter, I will indicate it here later). The temperature does not overheat, within normal operating ranges. This Seagate has a very noisy read head, the crack is as if you are grabbing the edge of a thick sticker with a layer of hard / hard polyethylene with your finger, pulling the edge of this sticker and releasing it, after which there is a characteristic hit / click on the surface on which this sticker is pasted. This disc periodically emits almost similar clicks / something similar, but a little quieter. The data transfer rate of Seagate is also inferior to WD. This drive can be said to be 2 times slower than WD. And it was immediately visible when copying the data. If 1 file of a movie from another drive is copied to Seagate at a speed of 62-64Mb/s, then WD from another drive copies the same movie file at a speed of 110-120Mb/s.
