Purchased for beach use. They're good for drinks and help hold them while studying. However, they are not suitable for snacking as they are so low to the ground that sand cannot help but get into them. I think they would be useful for drinks in almost any outdoor setting to provide extra protection from spills, although they only work on a fairly flat surface. The plastic is quite thick and hard so they appear to be very durable.
