Overall this backpack is great for our little Gamora. It folds up nicely, although once assembled we probably won't be taking it apart as it's now our vehicle for car trips etc. as well. It's stable and the floor makes a good base. You can open the sides or top to take the cat in or out. We liked the fact that you can leave it open so the cat can look outside. It also has a built-in leash at the bottom to keep your cat from jumping out (theoretically). On our first hike, the hook that connects the built-in leash to the safety system broke immediately. And our cat is a small munchkin weighing 4.6 pounds. She jumped out immediately but luckily didn't dare and I grabbed her a few seconds after she landed on the ground. This can be a big problem depending on your cat's temperament. I'd recommend immediately ignoring that weak hook and using a carabiner instead (which we did). Also, don't expect your cat to ever lie down while you walk. It's too optimistic. All backpacks will be too elastic. She also tried to get out sometimes and she got stuck in the net sometimes. Again what I expect from every backpack. She was panting despite good ventilation but we went camping on a very hot day with a temperature of 37 degrees. Glad we chose it over one of the plastic dome packages. I can't imagine how hot they will be.
