I didn't want to get close to take a picture, so I walked down the hallway and the light reached the hallway as well. It definitely leaves a different smell behind, but that means it works. I suggest you do this before you leave the house or before going to bed at night. Basically, you need to ventilate the room or rooms. It's not a bad smell, but it's different. The remote control has a long range, so you don't have to be in the same room to operate it. I am satisfied with it when I used it for the first time.
