Review on 📀 Coby DVD-224 Compact DVD Player: Enjoy High-Quality Entertainment Anywhere! by Francisco Holmes

Updated 6/17/2008. The below subtitle problem occurs in various DVD movies. So I bought a Revain Sony DVP-NS57P/B player for $50. That works fine. I returned the Coby for a refund. Since I received this product a week ago, I have found that subtitle playback is problematic. About 5% of the time, subtitles only show for a split second. This is always the case in a long dialogue. This is a recurring error in English, French, or Spanish. The sound is ok. 1/16 slow motion displays offensive subtitles for the same fraction of a second. The subtitles are really unreadable, except for maybe one word. To be honest I can say that I've only seen this problem with the Netflix HBO Rome series DVDs, but today I tried one of these on a friend's high-end Toshiba and found that the correct display of a of the problem areas was a two-line subtitle, followed by another two-line subtitle that displayed extensive dialogue from one of the speakers. Toshiba had no problems (and my recently deceased Toshiba never exhibited this behavior). Tomorrow I will start releasing another DVD series but sorry it's now or never to link this edition. I suspect the Coby DVD-224 software has a bug in the logic that decodes DVD subtitles. Internet research shows me that DVD subtitles are just another stream of data with titles, packages, etc. One might think that this decoding logic is already a finished product. no I haven't decided yet whether to return the $27 Revain wonder, but be careful about renting DVDs of foreign movies or programs like OZ and The Wire (both American HBO creations). Even if English is your first language, subtitles are essential. Good? Another DVD player will appear in the near future. I have simple technical needs. I have worked in the computer/technology industry for many, many years. This product is in short supply. Also note that the remote control is very directional.
