Review on ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Fellow Monty Double Ceramic Matte: Sleek and Stylish Kitchen Essential by Daniel Ogbebor

Very disappointed with the color change.

As some have said, the metal on the base is a very cheap and brittle paint. I assumed it was copper alloy, or at least anodized. No, that is not so. After only a few rinses in the dishwasher, the color has completely disappeared, leaving the natural color of the metal, which is a sterling silver. The mug remains attractive and otherwise handles well in use, but suggests cheapness and a lack of quality of materials that I find hard to stomach. I was specifically looking for a brand. I wanted the company to care about their products and their reputation. In terms of performance, I really like the durability compared to double wall glass tumblers like Bodum's. This mug loses heat faster than either of these mugs, but not by much. I ran an experiment using 8 ounces of boiling water in preheated mugs and after fifteen minutes the Fellow mug was 8 degrees colder than the Bodum mug or any other manufacturer's mug. Not bad, BUT since the metal base makes it impossible to microwave, you can't turn up the temperature of your drink a tad. This performance issue was acceptable for an attractive design. That's why I'm so disappointed with the color loss. You are certainly aware of this, which is why the statement "dishwasher safeโ€ is incorrect. No, it won't "damage" the mug, but it will irreparably change its character. Because of this, as long as I'm happy with the mugs I have and won't give up on them, I won't buy any more. Performance in traditional double-walled glass tumblers is generally better, and since the aesthetics don't age well, it's not worth the compromise.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
