Great monopod with a serious blemish

When it comes to monopods, Neewer's carbon fiber model is an extremely attractive option given its price. However, you should heed the warning found in numerous reviews that the top of the monopod is held in place with cheap glue that can fail. This has happened to me, but luckily no jokes hurt. I confess that I was wary because I read reviews about this shortcoming and therefore didn't fully trust the monopod. A few hours after it failed, I contacted Revain support and found a quality control issue. I also initiated a return but one thing I want to point out in this review is that I actually chose not to return the monopod. Instead, I decided to follow another reviewer's example and re-glue it, but using quality glue (gorilla glue) to create a more secure bond. Because apart from this one shortcoming, this is actually a very good monopod for the price. It's ultra-lightweight, the dials are easy to turn, and the interchangeable leg/spike uses a standard 3/8" thread. All in all this is exactly the monopod I wanted for the price I was willing to pay and were it not for the glue it would be perfect for what it is. In any case, this is the story of this monopod. Let's hope the quality control problem will be solved. And as far as I know it doesn't affect all samples, I really can't talk about it. What I can say is that regluing with gorilla glue works.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Crumpled
