Review on πŸ“€ Toshiba HD-A3: Experience High-Definition 720p/1080i with this HD DVD Player by Allen Wagner

Good deal for the price.

I bought this player for $127 about 2 weeks before Toshiba stopped fighting HD-DVD. Since I persevered and only paid $99 for my first DVD player a few years ago, I thought it was a good deal. I still believe in it. Despite the demise of HD-DVD this player still converts older DVDs, I saw Open Range 2 days ago and it looked great on my 42" Samsung DLP. The player itself is very thin, I connected it to the TV without any problems. It doesn't include an HDMI cable, I bought it from Revain for less than $7 and it works great. My only problem was the firmware update, I couldn't get it to play more than 20 minutes after the update and had to call Toshiba customer service the next morning. They made me restart the player and it's been working fine ever since. Conclusion IMO, if you don't want to spend money on a Blu-Ray or PS3 player and have an opportunity to get some cheap HD DVD movies, take a look at this device. At the current price, it's worth it for a basic up-converting player. I won't even think about buying a Blu-ray player until it hits $100 and I'm sure this player will keep me alive until then.
