Recently there has been talk of avoiding down jackets in car seats as they may require the child's seat belts to be loosened to accommodate them, increasing the risk of car seat malfunction in the event of an accident. I love that this coat is thin enough that my son can safely wear it in the car during the winter months and still stay warm. I can strap him in tight and protect him in the car during the winter months. I wouldn't send him out to play in the snow with this coat on, especially in wet snow without a waterproof layer on top. But for easy walks to the car and driving in winter weather, this is just what we needed.
