Simple and uncomplicated, not a bad product for the price. That's the cool thing about it, which I like. Of course, any 49mm filter can be screwed onto the supplied adapter ring. . BUT the hood itself is bolted to the adapter ring itself. This means that the filter is not physically visible and is hidden within the hood itself. So even with the filter on, it looks exactly like what you see in the image here. The only downside is that if dust/dirt gets in. You won't notice it, or you'll have to unscrew it to see or remove it. This is the only downside I see compared to an OEM style lens hood with side vents. I bought a silver lens hood for my Silver X100 but would like to buy a black one instead. because it doesn't look that cool.
