If you are new to soldering this is a very good and inexpensive way to get started. Unlike other models in this price range, it has a very large bowl (boiler) and has 300 watts instead of the typical 150, allowing for faster melt times and more storage. With just a temperature control and an on/off switch, it's easy to use and can melt a pound of lead-free solder in about 5 minutes.
