Review on Upgrade Your Computer Performance with SAMSUNG 850 EVO 250GB SATA III Internal SSD by Wiktor Marciniak ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very pleased with this purchase, will recommend it to everyone!

I track the resource through Samsung magician (so it seems?) Quite conveniently. This model has (like) a resource of about 75 or 85 terabytes (I don’t remember exactly). In my opinion, ideally (to match SSD-heh) there should be DDR4, you will truly appreciate their duet :) And(!), you may need to manually set the SATA Gen 3 type in the BIOS media setup options. On ASRock B250M Pro4 this is (as it turned out) necessary for "full disclosure of the SSD". And make sure the S. M.A. R.T. option is enabled! Over time, when the resource is running out, it will warn you of an imminent failure! Naturally, we do not forget that the SSD resource is still less than the HDD resource (swap on such a thing will certainly be fast, but it will probably use this resource with great appetite - put at least 6-8 gigabytes of RAM to extend the life of this device, and turn off the swap to such and such a mother), and you will be happy! By the way, even the Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz, with 4 GB of DDR2 RAM on board, was suitable for this SSD. But still, such a bundle cannot be compared with hardware on DDR4.

Pros
  • Speed (of course)! Windows 10 boots (from the moment its logo appears) in 3 seconds (seriously, I manually set the type to SATA 3rd generation in the BIOS, and the SSD type of drive), Fedora Workstation 25 (from the moment it loads the kernel) shows the login window after a second (! ).
Cons
  • Working behind the system on such a medium knocks out the bar of "comfortable performance" to the skies. After this, you may start to get annoyed by working with systems on the HDD . I wanted to say that this is especially true for "techies", but after a little thought I decided that this effect would most likely work even more strongly on "humanities". I would compare this with working on new systems on OS X and Windows XP, which is heavily overlaid with various third-party programs. But seriously, there are no complaints about the product at the moment.
