To be honest I love this toy! I have three kids, so we've looked through our fair share of "educational toys" and this is definitely the best, if not one of the best, options on the market for both phonics and readability. The Mystery Word game itself is what makes this toy stand out. This is a set of three letter, high frequency words, and the backpack will give you the sound the first letter makes and a letter cue after which the child will press the letter they think they are. This is repeated until all three letters are guessed correctly, and then the letter is spoken quickly to help the child learn to pronounce letters and form words. My four year old loves this game. It also teaches them to write upper and lower case letters, draw funny animals with letters and has a letter matching game. My 2 year old also loves this toy so I'd say it's great for all ages. The drawing board is very beautiful. Sometimes it seems to me that these magnetic drawing boards are not good at erasing, similar to how you can see faint lines after erasing, and then they never completely disappear. This is not the case here. This washes very well and I appreciate it. Our "W" doesn't quite snap or lock into place, so I'm concerned that we might lose it, but the rest of it locks into place very well. I didn't see any other reviews mentioning the W issue so I assumed it wasn't a permanent issue but wanted to mention it. Overall, this is a quality toy that teaches really useful PreK and kid skills, and I highly recommend this toy for that.
