Review on Breville Filter BJE510XL Multi Speed Fountain by Jamal Gerrero

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Edited 06/03/2020 Screen basket wears out too quickly and is too expensive for this quality

Works great when the basket is new. Unfortunately, after just 2 months of use (to juice a bunch of celery, once a day in my case) the tiny blades dulled and practically reduced juice extraction by at least 40%. The mesh basket is either not a genuine Breville product. or Breville will no longer use high quality stainless steel. This juicer is getting too expensive to maintain considering you need at least 3 strainer baskets a year (about $180). It's 5 stars if not for this issue. The original strainer basket that came with a recently purchased juicer (model BJE510XL, costs about $270) lasted almost 4 years. The juicer itself still works perfectly, but I will be contacting Breville customer service to share my concerns about the strainer basket. Before investing in a Breville brand juicer, you should carefully consider replacement parts and maintenance costs. EDIT June 3, 2020: I found out today that you can only replace the stainless steel blade and the cost is only $18.99. HOWEVER, the basket advertised (which I bought in August 2019) does not appear to be genuine as the blade does not have the 3 screws needed to disassemble and replace with a new blade. When buying a basket, make sure the picture shows a top view of the inside of the basket (3 screws) so that you can only replace the blade in the future. Much more economical. 3 blades for the price of 1 basket. Hope that helps.
