So let me say straight away that this is a great espresso, but not a latte or cappuccino. I'm not interested in frothing milk in my coffee, so the lack of a frother on this machine suits me. But if you love cappuccino or latte, you need a frothing version of this machine. This version costs about $50 more and doesn't seem to be available on Revain yet. This is a great automatic espresso machine. It automatically grinds the cone grinder and automatically compresses the grist, eliminating the need for tamping. You control the hardness. The coffee grinder determines the amount of coffee ground and the amount of water used according to the drink you choose. The machine automatically prepares espresso, americano and lungo in standard sizes. You can change the grind and volume through the app, and your choice of grind and drink can be saved as your automatic My Cup selection through the app. Without setting your favorite recipe via the app, a cup of ristretto is prepared by pressing the My Cup button. Swelling occurs from increased pressure on hot water. The initial application of water to the ground coffee is gentle, however after blooming the pressure is increased to 20 bar at a lower pressure. The machine is easy to clean and comes with a magnetic drip tray. Remove the drip tray and behind it the grounds drawer, which must be emptied after eight cups have been dispensed. Finally, the brewing unit can be easily removed for cleaning. The machine comes with several packs of descaling chemicals and has an automatic warning and descaling process. It's a beautiful machine, really elegant to look at and it makes great espresso. For the price of a Starbucks coffee today, this machine pays for itself fairly quickly if you order espresso from it often.
