I was skeptical at first based on comments from other reviewers about using heat shrink tubing below the waterline. However, when you heat that heat shrink tubing, it releases a type of RTV, an adhesive or other sealant that bonds to the wires' protective sheath. If done right, I believe it will do well in a pot that is used occasionally. I think it's more likely that the pump itself will fail before the cable connection. I would like to add that the part number on my C402C pot was 21944, the part number on the Thetford website for the spare is 33368 (which is what I ordered here), the part number on the package I received is 29027, and the instructions in that pack - 16374. Thetford seems to have many similar parts under different part numbers but it installs and works well. I will say that the new pump has a higher pitch than the old one, but it's still quiet enough that I don't think we'll be waking anyone up with the pump at night.
