Review on Enhanced Performance with NETGEAR Renewed R7000-100NAR Nighthawk AC1900 Router: Dual Band Wi-Fi Gigabit Router with Open Source Support, Alexa Compatibility by Jeff Robeson

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Bought April 10, 2018 and discontinued July 1, 2018

I ordered the R7000 on April 10, 2018 and received the router on April 11. Very fast delivery. I didn't really bother with the Google Play Store apps available for this router, but I tried to give them a chance. The Disney Circle app was terrible too. I upgraded from Almond Plus by Securifi. The UI and app available on Almond is much better. I took a chance with this router and yesterday, July 1, 2018 (less than 90 days later), the Netgear Nighthawk R7000's internet connection stopped working. I noticed that the router always felt very hot and figured that was normal. I can still connect to the local network, but the R7000 cannot access the internet at all. I called my ISP and they couldn't see the router at all. After I unplugged the cable from the router and plugged it directly into my laptop, the internet was fine. This router is now no more than the weight of a paper. I will try to replace. I may have received a bad CERTIFIED refurbished router. If they don't agree to a replacement I will most likely use Almond Securifi again. I just don't understand how a router in this price range can have so many flaws. This review is based on my own purchase and is not biased. I will update the result and rating based on my experience. At the moment I cannot recommend this router to anyone.
