This brush does a good job of removing dust from hats. I work with horses and the places we go can be very dusty. When the hat is dusty and it starts raining, the dust turns to mud. It is easier to maintain if it is cleaned regularly. The bristles on this brush were tough enough to remove dust and lint from a beaver fedora that had been neglected for a while. Improvement occurred after use. I recently learned that fedoras should be brushed counter-clockwise. This is the direction of the pile from the moment the felt was formed. Apparently this is the industry standard. who knew
