After receiving this antenna, I checked the SWR with a multimeter. This was about 1:16, meaning most of the RF is bouncing back toward the end of your radio, causing it to overheat and break down quickly. For comparison, I attached a thin whip antenna that I bought. It had an SWR of 1:1, meaning all RF power was radiated through the antenna and not reflected back into the radio. (see pics) This was at 438,500, which should have been within range of that stub antenna. Long story short, it goes back where it came from and my $200 DMR radio will be a lot happier.
