ICY Dock ExpressCage MB732SPO-B 2 x 2.5 inch SSD/HDD plus Optical Drive

The product is well designed overall and has a pretty good build quality. I really like that I can use my old DVD drive for a laptop and get rid of the full size. Installing the optical drive was easy, all the screw holes matched perfectly. There's no power connector or SATA connector for the optical drive on the board, but they're completely unnecessary anyway. Simple power / SATA cable on the back of the ODD - that's all it takes. I particularly like the front separate power buttons for the SSD/HDD that are hot-swappable. However, there are a few things that could be improved about the product: - the SSD/HDD trays are thin plastic and don't feel good. They work well but cannot withstand rough treatment. It would be nice if they had better build quality with a tray alloy and front latch. I would be willing to pay more for it. It was nice to avoid the need to screw the SSD/HDD to the tray, as was the case with the MB732SPO-B, a "comparable trayless design" where the drives just snap into place. In fact, I don't see why SSD/HDD slots can't be slotless at all. - When using the two front screws that attach the frame to the PC, they must not be longer than 1-1.5mm, otherwise they will clog the plastic disc trays. I found this out the hard way when I used a longer screw on the drive tray which exposed a notch on the edge of the tray. This could easily have been avoided during development. The rear two screws have a large gap. Overall, I recommend this product as a great way to save space.
