I foolishly ignored customer complaints about "cross thread retention" and bought four of these (3 tanks and one as a spare). I travel a lot in the desert and off-road and my tanks are VERY dusty. Well they came, so what? They keep crossing. All three tanks are the same. I installed them VERY carefully on the first tank because of the many warnings. The second and third, I was paranoid and ridiculously cautious about installing - it all came out right away: CROSS THREADED. However, they seem to seal, but I'm not sure. I think a product specifically designed for security would be MUCH better. Next, I'll try a brass fitting.
