My office is like 8x8 and cold. I didn't want a noisy heater either. The reviews are correct that you have to stand right in front of it to feel its true effects. But this heater is small and powerful. I leave it under the table at my feet, my hands don't get warm. I stretch out my hands to put them on it for a minute and I'm fine. I left my office door closed and it definitely warms up the room. It's not too loud and easy to use. Didn't realize there was also a fan option to keep you cool so that's nice to have. It arrived with a sound like something was dangling inside, but I left it alone and had no issues with it or odor issues. I'm glad to have received this.
