I bought this pitcher mainly for cold brewing and it's good for that. The pitcher is well made but I try not to hit it or handle it roughly as it is glass and of course it can break. Although it says it can be heated I don't use it for that purpose so can't comment on that but I keep mine in the fridge 100% of the time and it keeps great and seals well to keep the coffee fresh. I fill the filter with freshly ground espresso beans and then fill it up with filtered cold water. Leave for 12 hours and I'll have delicious cold coffee. The benefit of using espresso beans is that after the first pour you can add more water and draw at least 2-3 full mugs from a full can of beans rather than one of the regular coffee beans. Hand wash only (not in the dishwasher) with a sponge (a sponge stick will help). A very useful item for brewing delicious, fragrant teas and the like. good price too.
