I bought this little humidifier 10 months ago and it's still working. It works almost 24/7 except for a few weekends when we weren't there. I've run it dry a couple of times (the weekend mentioned above), I don't mind the consumption of distilled water. I use our extremely hard water straight from the tap and don't wash it as often as I should, but despite abuse it still does its job well. Keep in mind this is just a little guy and it took almost a week to steam our 16 x 16 bedroom during which I had to fill it up 5 times in two days. That was to be expected and once the humidity in the room was right (between 37% and 62%) I was able to turn it off and now it's running through the tank about every day and a half. It makes friendly little gurgling noises that are kind of pleasant. I'm not a fan of flavors. It didn't fit properly and started leaking so I don't use it but I still think it's a great product for the money.
