Review on 🌬️ Enhanced Cooling Fan for Nintendo Switch Dock - Temperature Display Cooler for NS Original Docking Station, USB Powered, Integrated Cable by Robert Long

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It works very well!

I've been using the fan dock for my Nintendo Switch for over a year now and the original fan bearing has failed. I fixed it by replacing the tiny 50mm fan with one I found on eBay. However, this was not an exact match and required some minor modifications. However, even with this fan, the bearing became loud and squeaked. I left out the dock fans which attach to the back of the dock and just blow air onto the back of the Switch. This has the same effect as simply placing your switch in front of a box or pedestal fan. The traditional "dock fan" style add-on only cools the Switch's plastic back. It doesn't move air in or out of the console. The built-in fan still does its job. So I really wanted to try this fan to see if there is a difference. On principle this fan should provide more cooling as it seals the commutator over the exhaust port. I use the term lightly since it's not exactly a situation of the moment. The case prevents leakage more or less well. It's a swirl fan, so it "pulls" air out of the console. Essentially, this helps the internal fan move air through the system, allowing more cubic feet of fresh air to circulate through the console than just a standard cooler. Well I have to say I'm impressed! Advantages: Adjustable speed from 600 rpm to 6000 rpm. Three simple buttons for control: zoom in, zoom out, on/off. You can still connect your headset and use this device. The shroud is more than large enough to cover the entire exhaust port and not hide the headphone jack. Includes micro USB power cord. It's designed to plug into the back of the console dock between the HDMI and the power cord, and it's just the right length to do so. The digital display shows both the current fan speed and the CONSOLE EXHAUST AIR temperature in degrees. Celsius. (This can't read the internal temperature of the CPU or GPU.) It's only $15 at the time of writing, and it's pretty cheap. Actually cools down the internal temperature of the console (probably; see below). Bad: only reads the temperature of the air leaving the console. This is very clear, but nowhere has it been clearly stated that it only shows air temperature and therefore could confuse people. This is not a "radiator" fan. I think this is a mistranslation or misunderstanding of what a radiator is. There is no heatsink or metal fins anywhere on this unit. This is perfectly normal as it doesn't need anything like this to function well and do its job well, but its description is a bit misleading. This is a pure vortex fan. The temperature is only shown in Celsius, not Fahrenheit :( The display automatically switches between air temperature and fan speed. Impossible to only show one or the other. from your 3 ports It's quite noisy when it's on and at full speed runs probably impossible to get rid of him when he's spinning at 6000rpm but it might bother some people however at 4000rpm it's not noticeable at all Verdict: I think it works very well Back of the dock and just blows air at the back of the console, this thing is amazing! Assuming the temperature sensor is accurate, the air temperature has never exceeded 36 degrees Celsius (97 degrees Fahrenheit) and at 6000rpm and 1000rpm never exceeded it was 42 degrees Celsius (108 degrees Fahrenheit) small console which is impressive and shows that the faster this fan runs the colder the air gets as the air is direct t is sucked out of the console's cooling system, it's safe to assume that the internal temperature is actually dropping. This means that this fan is actually working to cool the console while the docking station fans are doing nothing. It's now my first day of ownership and so far I'm impressed. The "bad" things in this case are trivial at best and don't justify deducting a star in my opinion. Now the real test is to see how long this fan lasts before its bearings or something fails. For now, a 5-star rating is appropriate as it exceeded my expectations for the console's actual cooling.
