Review on 🎧 Sony MDR-Z7M2 Hi-Res Stereo Overhead Headphones - Black: Unraveling Immersive Audio Experience by Laurie Nelson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great headphones: Headphones

I have the original MDRz7 and it's a good upgrade. They managed to make the sound more transparent at medium and high frequencies compared to the previous version. I had the best Z1s in the line but I returned them because they bothered my ears a lot. I also brought back Focal Clears and Mr Speaker's Ether C. I currently have a Hifiman HE6SE which I hook up to my SET tube amps and an Edition xx which I use with an Aurender Flow DAC, but lately I've been using a Sony MDRz7 Mark 1 because I like more bass, although the Treble was a bit fogged compared to my two Hifiman phones so I tried these MDRz7-M2 and they really improved the treble, now comparable to Edition XX phones but with a lot more bass, that was overkill too. and loose, causing the phones to vibrate annoyingly in my ears. I found this to be caused by new pads which I don't like so I replaced them with Z7 Mark 1 pads and the bass is much tighter and better and now I'm happy. I also have an Audeze LCD-XC and they are good but they can't play as loud as the Sony and the soundstage isn't as wide. The Audezes are $1200 and are heavy, so the Sony is a good deal, especially if you switch pads, which I recommend. Out of all my headphones, my favorite is Sony headphones.
