Accurate enough for fish and aquatic animals

I bought this heater because my other one didn't keep a constant temperature. If you're not willing to explore a TON of aquarium heaters and still go for the cheapest option, you get what you pay for. POINT. Unfortunately I needed a new STAT heater for another pool so I took a chance and bought the Uniclife 25W. It happened in one night. Thank god my blue fish turned blue. I let the heater come up to room temperature and then put it in the aquarium. It's bigger than I wanted, but I have semi-aquatic plants that need to be partially above water. This required a better heater to keep the water at the desired temperature without a lid. My betta hated this thing at first but after 3 days she is fine. The setup is pretty accurate once you get the hang of it. Mine is halfway between 76 and 78Β° and hell if it hadn't died at @ 77 I had to mount it horizontally in the tank as it was sticking out about an inch above the water. Please keep this in mind when shopping. If your 5 gallons are taller than they are wide, they may fit vertically. I ended up stacking some more bricks from the pantry around the heating pipe. There are no guards and my fish are very curious. It gets hot, so be prepared to keep it in a safe place where the fish won't rub against it. I would recommend this heater up to 10 gallons. But no less than 5 gallons because of the space requirements.
