I tested this flash and found no problems! I usually take it with me on outdoor shoots and its long battery life, very portable and user-friendly nature got me hooked! I feel like I'll need it in normal situations. I like the easy to use wheel and the modeling light button on it is very good! PROS: - Powerful: 200W is a lot of light and if it lasts even half that, it promises 500 shots at full power on a single charge. that's enough for most situations! Considering I rarely run my Norman 400b at full power and the maximum power I normally need is half the power (200w) it might finally be time to put the Norman up for sale after I've seen more when I had towed heavy equipment for 15 years. High Quality: I honestly thought this was a piece of plastic junk to endure. I am very pleased with the build quality and feel of this device, even with the included stand adapter. And two screws is a big plus! Mount it horizontally or vertically for better light control. Rechargeable: No more burning out AA batteries or storing rechargeable batteries, the battery is easy to charge and replace. Portable: It fits in all medium to large sized bags I use on my Spider holster belt, snugly and securely in an SB800 pouch or lens case, even in most of my pant and cargo pockets when needed! - Easy to use: the transmitter is intuitive, the instruction manual is easy to understand, manual power adjustment is as simple as turning an easily accessible dial! - Flexibility: 5 groups means you have a whole fleet of them and can tune each one to exact performance, I can see the whole studio with no issues! - Mod compatibility: Mag Mod and Godox AK-R1 kit work with it no problem and I highly recommend the ak-r1 kit with this match made in heaven - Modeling light: Great inclusion here, indoor use was great and useful - HSS: high speed sync works well, wh This is not always true for models like 6D and other cameras with slower sync speeds. Focus Assist: The transmitter is equipped with a switchable focus assist laser reticle projector to help you focus in low light and just turn it off. In order not to dazzle your model, it's great! (looking at you YongNuo, pay attention) Cons: Too new: There is still little information about this flash on the internet and I'm having serious trouble finding documentation on compatible receivers. Neewer is known for its range of transmitters and receivers that don't always work well together. Not all 2.4GHz devices work well with each other, so I haven't found a receiver configured to pair with this new transmitter. I've sent several inquiries directly to Neewer Support regarding this and still haven't received a response, which is a shame. I definitely see myself in an ecosystem of transceivers based on this transmitter, assuming they work well with the 580exII like the YongNuo doTL:DR transceivers.
