Connected to a 12V switching power supply and was happy with the light output. But the cables, including the 5.5mm x 2.1mm connector, got very hot after 10-15 minutes. I didn't do a test to see if they would melt. This is not a tragedy to me as I intend to cut it into shorter sections that use less energy than a long string. But I would recommend the supplier to use stronger wires. Typical for electrical engineers from China, where they often sacrifice safety in order to save a few cents in production costs. I'd love to suggest a better provider, but I think the best option is to upgrade the wiring yourself after you get the goodies. This, of course, involves equipment and labor costs. However, I have bought dozens of LED strings from Thailand, China and the US (all made in China) and they are in the top 50% for quality. I can't say anything about the durability over several weeks.
