Extending the life of your Dremel

My previous Dremel lasted 23 years (only the BCS broke, I bent the shaft by dropping it). Although this beautiful kit was very expensive for me, if it lasts this long it will come out for less than $1 a month. To extend the life of your Dremel and ease project preparation:* BEFORE USE: Run your Dremel at high speed. five minutes and flex the shaft for two minutes while lifting the tool over the flexible shaft. Add a label to your brick collection to remind yourself to run each brick within 1 minute.*MAINTENANCE: Blow out with compressed air. Fold a long piece of masking tape in half over the Dremel cable and record each hour of use. When you reach 40-50, it's time to check the brushes. Add another strip of masking tape to the flexible stick to mark each hour of use. When you reach 35-40 relubrications with $5 additional Lucas ball bearing grease. * AT THE RIGHT SPEED: Go online and print out a Dremel chart showing speeds for each accessory and project material. To fit in your suitcase you need to cut the paper to width before laminating and attach a key ring so nothing gets lost. Store everything in your Dremel case by trimming excess foam at the back of the bottom drawer to fit newly labeled prescription bottles that snap together like pieces. For example one that says "STONES works 1 minute before use" followed by the numbers of all the accessories in that bottle. Attach a tape label with the accessory number to each accessory. I use the included accessory organizers for collets, tools, brushes, sanders, and large wheels. At the moment I'm only giving 4 stars because I haven't tried everything yet. Hope this will be helpful! UPDATE: My flex shaft was defective and fell apart on the second use, unfortunately after my month-long return period. I called Dremel and they sent me a replacement free of charge.
