Review on 🎞️ Kodak D-76 Developer Powder for 1 Gallon Black and White Film by Paul Sanchez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great developer!

I've been using this developer off and on for a few years now and it has never let me down! It's relatively inexpensive, and as another reviewer mentioned, it has decent durability. USAGE. If your film's development time isn't listed on the back cover, a quick Google search will bring up several charts covering almost every common film on the market. for that particular developer. Mix with slightly hot distilled water and leave to infuse for 24 hours. Store in an opaque container. Once mixed it will keep for about 6 months or until it "spins". RESULTSI always seems to give excellent results with this developer and I have added two scans to the images of the product, negatives developed and scanned at home. These were actually my first self-developed negatives, so if I can pull this off as a beginner, it shouldn't put you off at all! Combined with the right film, this solution is very forgiving for beginners and shouldn't leave you with horrible negatives that can be discouraging! Popular opinion says that Xtol is the best developer and I have to agree. However, D-76 is definitely a good developer and I keep it on hand!

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
