Revainrating 5 out of 5

More than meets the eye

I confess I didn't think it would actually work, but damn I'm glad I was wrong! I ordered the bag after our tree was up so I couldn't tell if the bag was big enough until I used it. We have a very large, lighted, 9 foot tree. The tree is in four parts and the branches are simply folded up in contrast to the detachable optics. Up until this year we used large 33 gallon garbage bags to store wood. Every year we had to use new bags because, even though they were "industrial" strength, they didn't hold up. These bags aren't cheap, so the need for three new ones a year wasn't pleasant. After reading the reviews on this bag I decided it was worth a try. When the package arrived in the mail, I figured my big tree would never fit in a bag that folds into an envelope-sized package for internal mail. Finally the day came when it was necessary to cut down the tree and start the sack. Even after putting the largest piece in my pocket, I was still a bit skeptical. When it came to the little top, I just shook my head in amazement. The entire tree fits in relatively easily. The only thing stopping me from giving this bag a full five star rating is the underestimation of how I move it from my living room to my storage room in the basement. Despite the fact that the tree fitted nicely in the bag, it was still awkward to move given its size. In hindsight, I would say it's better to go for a bag with wheels if you plan to set up the tree yourself. The only thing I would like to say is that although the integrity of the bag was maintained after being put into storage, I wouldn't be surprised if the metal bracket ripped the bag apart after a few uses. The material looks like a standard tarp and in my experience tarps lose integrity over the years and tend to become a little more brittle after repeated use. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that's not the case, but even if I'm looking for a replacement in a few years, at least I know what to look for.

Pros
  • Nice design
Cons
  • Not bad
