Let's face it, the idea of having a full size compact camera tripod defeats the whole purpose of a compact camera. There are smaller regular tripods but the problem with them is that you need a flat surface to play on the tripod. If you are away from home, you may not have many choices of such finishes to customize. As such, this tripod comes in very handy as it has flexible legs that can be wrapped around things. So you can safely mount the camera on things that would normally be very unstable like the top of an orange safety cone or the railing of some of those two story side stairs you see like in churches and where they would be. It's risky mounting a small camera on the side of the railing when you climb it as the vibrations can knock the camera off the edge, but it's easy to set up with a Gorillapod! It works great on tree branches too, and I've even managed to wrap it around one of those fancy street lamps (once). It offers a lot more creative possibilities, especially when you're on the go, it's lightweight and easily fits in your pocket. (really great for making video clips of yourself when you don't have a second person to hold the camera) so you can be your own male (or female) camera "team" :-). For those with larger cameras, they offer other larger versions that might work as well. I have fine motor problems and I haven't had much trouble manipulating my legs, sometimes it takes a bit of effort but I haven't had any trouble with it. Ideal for those with a small camera. I mainly use it for videos but I think with 30 seconds you can easily use it for selfies as well :-) a must!
