Review on America Msrpro6 6 5 Inch Weather Resistant Speakers by Daniel Postle

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great sound great price

I recently bought a set of these Bic America speakers for my large bathroom. I have a Denon AVR-3311ci receiver with 7.1 speakers in the main zone. I'm using an external stereo amplifier (AudioSource AMP-100 Stereo Power Amplifier) to drive two sets of Zone 2 speakers, with (A) a set of bookshelf speakers in the dining room and (B) these MSR-PRO6 speakers mounted in the ceiling of the main bathroom. When I first got the Bic's I set them up on the bathroom vanity and ran the speaker wire through just to test them out. They worked well, but I found the sound disappointingly tinny. However, I was optimistic that once installed they would sound fuller. boy did they ever! I think of the drywall as a speaker enclosure of sorts, and I also put an insulated enclosure over the speakers to protect them from direct heat and dirt in the attic. My bathroom is medium sized and the speakers are in the corners opposite the shower. I turned up the amp, put on a CD of vocal jazz, and took a shower. Even with two fans running and water from the shower hitting my face, I could hear every note and syllable of the song clearly and without any distortion. As a source of ambient music for the bathroom, they are more than suitable. I also have no hesitation in recommending these speakers for a surround sound system to all but the most discerning audiophile.
