I ended up buying a cutting mat when I wanted to be sure of squareness and flatness when sewing curtains and cushions. I wish iAd had been bought a year earlier! I used a fabric roller cutter on fabric on a mat for perfect lines. Although the tailor went through the fabric to the mat, there was no sign of the mat being cut. The self-healing feature really worked. The price was also fair compared to similar products I researched. I would recommend it.
