I've used other DROK products so I knew (more or less) what I wanted from the DROK DC Buck Converter 10-65V to 0-60V 0-12A Adjustable Voltage Regulator with LED display, can expect. Since I'm more interested in electronics, I actually only have a "good" desktop power supply. I have a few other more dubious origins and possibilities. Knowing this, I figured it might be better/safer/less complicated to just use DROK. The unit is a little clunky, although I find it reasonable for 700+ watts. My use of it will probably never exceed 240W. At 240 watts it generated about 23 watts of heat. This is slightly lower than the efficiency listed on the product page, but that's okay - and obviously, different voltages and loads will affect efficiency. However, the heat dissipation medium is not the best. Yes, there is a heatsink (okay) and a fan (me), but depending on how you install the board, the heatsink doesn't work very efficiently. A fan helps some, but I'd recommend more airflow and vertical spacing between the boards if you plan to run at high power. The controls are simple and work well, which is good since there's no useful documentation. The functionality is good and DROK is not that expensive. recommended
