And now for the unusual. I attached a mirror to the paddle on my rowing oar. I replaced the hex screw with a 6mm x 1mm screw and plastic handle. I positioned the transom clamp about 3 inches from the paddle box cabin in line with the paddle return position. The sponge is simply placed on the end of the handle and clamps it with just a few turns. I get about a 120 degree view on every paddle return. I placed it on the left rudder but that was done for convenience and I don't see the importance of that. I think the mirror is glass and would treat it accordingly. It would have been nice if it was an ounce lighter, but I'm very happy with how it worked for me.
