I opened it after carefully reading the minimum care and maintenance instructions. I used a 116 ounce bottle of Boos Mystery Oil and let it soak into the fibers of the wood for 30 minutes. Then the next day I used a very slightly damp Bounty paper towel to wipe away the residue. half a tube of Boos Block Board Cream by hand, it's food safe so it can be rubbed into the wood intensely. I let it soak overnight and repeated the same paper towel process to buff it and give it a great wax-like protection. So far I am very very happy with it and it is a great addition to my kitchen and I will no longer worry about damaging granite worktops. I will check again in 3 months.
