Great for a month. Then I won't sleep

When I first got this chair I really liked it - it was comfortable and easy to use. Used it all the time. Fast forward a month later. For some reason the lever that controls how far back the chair reclined stopped working; all I have to do is lean back in my chair and the backrest begins to move more and more until the back of the chair is a foot off the floor. I don't know if I got a defective one, but after a month the backrest of the chair is no longer holding up. There are other chairs - take one of them.
