UPDATE: I've paired this lens with my D850 for a long time. It takes stunning pictures and the bokeh is worth every penny! However, I would buy other lenses before buying this one. I mean, if you're willing to spend 2K on a real Nikkor lens, you should probably get a 20-70 or 35, 50, or even 85 lens first. It's a big lens and it's not for designed for occasional close-ups. I still love this lens but this is my third lens now. I use a (2.8) 20-70 for family shots and my Rokinon (1.4) 35 for a lot of night and landscape shots. Wow! I have it connected to my D500 now but will be connecting it to my D850 soon. It's very expensive and I can't say if it's worth it yet, but the photos are impressive. The bokeh will blow your mind. It's one thing to see someone else's super clear and focused image with amazing bokeh, but it's awesome when you realize you can take amazing pictures with the right equipment. I'm not even a good photographer to call myself an amateur, but I get really good shots of people and landscapes with this lens. I knocked over a block and took to the sky just to see what the difference was (at night). It was a very significant upgrade over my 2.8 16-80 zoom. I can't wait to try it on people, photographing nightscapes and the Milky Way. I definitely need to pair it with the D850 now.
